Does anyone know of a link between ME and plantar heel pain? I have a new patient who has not been dx with Fibromyalgia, just M.E. She has had various orthoses/strapping/cortisone injection over the past year for her 'plantar fasciitis'..none has helped and the strapping and some orthoses have aggravated it. She rarely has start-up pain, onset was sudden and bilateral. I've suggested an MRI to confirm dx and another chat with her ME consultant before looking at custom-made orthoses. She does also have bilateral wrist pain. I wonder if heel pain is a frequent symptom of ME / fibromyalgia. Anyone know?

Maybe a thorough blood investigations (eg, FBC, uric acid, rheumatoid factor, HLA B27, ANA, ENA, renal function check?) and MRI/xrays could prove to be helpful in coming to terms with a diagnosis.
I've got a young patient in his early 30s who was diagosed as fibromyalgia by the Dr and had pain on the 1st Mpj. Resolving well with a pair of custom made orthoses. Mild pain can still be present occasionally as verberlised by the patient.

Thanks for that. Can you enlighten me why renal function is important in this case? The patient had a diseased kidney removed 12 years ago.
