Hi All

I have request to do phenolisation procedure for onychocryptosis with 17 yo patient with factor moderate 9 coagulation disorder.

In liasing with bleeding disorder clinic I am trying to establish protocol to manage post op care. Any anecdotal recommendations or knowledge of published approach for this?


Tentative plan is pre op factor and post op coagulation monitoring/ optimisation.

Question remains at what level and for how long.

There is a paper written about 15 years ago concerning Nail Surgery and the Warfarin Dependent, by R A Bellmont, it may give you some pointers.

If you can not get hold of it give me a call and I will go over it with you.

Thanks Rob, I have done several nail surgeries with coumadin patients within normal INR range and no need for any special approach. Factor deficiency I think may present more of a problem since clotting is not simply delayed but may be inadequate.
