    Hello,

I am new to podiatry arena so please be gentle with me.

I am currently investigating the use of group foot health talks for new patient referrals in the hope that our department can reduce waiting times.

Has anyone ever had any experience of this or any pearls of wisdom you would like to share?

    All ideas welcomed.

    Thank you.

Hi Penny welcome, are you a pod?
The introduction forum is not the best forum to ask questions. Search the tags for information and if this does not help then post again in an appropriate forum.
May help to also know where you are, and the type of department you are involved with.

    Good Luck

    Hi Penny,

    :welcome: to Podiatry Arena.

Foot health talks are a great way of providing information. My advice would be to keep it fairly simple with a general discussion on foot health & include some slides to highlight discussion themes. eg. fungal infections etc. Also I find leaflets are a really valuable information source for patients to take with them.

Try to allocate some time after the talk for individuals to ask for specific advice on their particular problem/s.

If it is an NHS trust you work for it is reasonable to allocate an individual with foot problems for a one off assessment appointment.

Diabetes uk is really informative & I believe they can also provide leaflets for patient information.

Another source for leaflets is The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists if you are UK based.

    I hope it goes well.

    Regards,

    Mandy.
