To be a Podiatrist one must complete a 3 year full time (or 4 year part time) course at an accredited university - the SMAE institute trains Foot Health Professionals: about the same level as the Podiatrists' assistants in the NHS.

Its a pity the general public are largely unaware of this (as Foot Health Professionals often advertise in the Podiatry section of local papers, yellow pages etc) as they are leaving their foot care in the hands of people who are NOT qualified in Podiatry/Chiropody.

And - Cameron Kippon - what is a "podologist" when its at home? Not recognised by the medical community, that's for sure!
