Hi,
I joined the forum two days ago and thought it about time I introduced myself. I graduated from Plymouth uni last year, and am now busy setting up my own practice as it is very difficult to find nhs work in Pembrokeshire. I was a 'mature' student and came to the podiatry world after a lifelong fascination with why people walk the way they do, and always looking/watching people's feet - I blame my dad and grandad, one of whom had crushed foot in a mining accident and the other had syndactyl of several toes - so it was probably predestined. Hope that this proves to be an exciting and mentally stimulating experience!

Until such time as your company is floated on the stock market I strongly recommend the Pod' Arena option of FREE. Unless of course you choose to buy Admin a beer ;)

am up for anythng free and I know the best things in life are -:pigs:but in my experience I usually end up paying somehow, although am prepared to buy beer, gin, vodka, whiskey, brandy, as long as I too can partake:D!

 

Hi Jacqui Nice to make contact again - we were on the same course in Plymouth! Just joined the Arena. Am in private practice in Exeter. I started in October 2007, and now have to do very little advertising because its word of mouth now. I rely on what Tony would have called a good 'footfall' past my door/sign - as I work from home. :welcome:Nice to hear from a fellow student! So you too resorted to setting up on your own. For me the fact that Pembrokeshire NHS is not recruiting :bang:meant that it had to be my first consideration so finally took the plunge and started up last May. I do mostly domicilliary but also rent a room in the local GP practice a day a week. Business is slow, particularly just lately, :boohoo:but it is growing - just not as quickly as I would like!! Can't set up a room at home as we are renting down here (credit crunch = no house sale in Cornwall). So will have to wait until house sold so that I can look at premises. Am struggling to come to terms with the expectations of private patients, how about you?

Hi Jacqui. Quite a moving story, I did tear up a bit.

I guess you're lucky your Dad didn't injure his coccyx !!!!!!

Welcome to the arena, it sounds as though you'll fit right in......and please keep your head up when you're walking!!!!! lol
