Before I trundeled around the Rugby pitch yesterday a new female physio was applying tape to all the lads who wanted it.Feeling left out I voluntered my worn out shoulder which she applied a single slip, of kinetic tape to help with my rotator cuff. After 80 minutes of daring do I was expecting not to be able to use my arm for a week , but arose pain free.My question is thus is this kinetic tape used in podiatry?

We've been using kinesio taping routinely in pod clinic for 6/12 and find it very helpful with PFJ , TS , achilles , pl fascia / abd hall and even digital taping for plantar plate.

    Hi Paul
Do you use the tape as you would use rigid strapping tape? Or do you use as described by kinesio taping courses/texts?

    sorry...TS (Triceps Surae)....calf muscles

    Hi guz,

In combination with rigid but not as a replacement tape for stability strapping.

I've been using the pre-cut "spiders" as described by the kinesio text/courses, particularly for PFJ / knee; AbHL as kinesio.

Using kinesio tape strips to assist with stability digital plantarflex taping when rigid is often poorly tolerated.

It is sometimes difficult to 'un-train' and not stability tape when that's what I've used for so many years, however i'm impressed with kinesio where rigid strapping is really of little use.

A great addition to the tool box...

    cheers.

    Hey there,

I have used a bit of kinesio-taping, mostly after working with a few people who have done various courses. I was wondering if anyone had found any good quality papers on the use of kinesio-taping on the lower limbs?

    Many thanks, Nikki
