A 72-year-old woman had serious damage to her thumbnail three years ago when the lid of the chest freezer dropped on it. She had microsurgery on the damaged bone and the nail became deformed. There is a hard nail-like growth on the skin under the nail which is sensitive.

I have taken photographs of the nail before I reduced it and repaired in with LCN Pedique, a plastic preparation set with UV light.
My question is this, will the nail eventually attach to the nail bed and will the false nail help in this process?
