    The thumb nail in this picture shows the effect of severe trauma five years ago. I have tried to help by constructing a cosmetic nail with Pedique but it does not last very long because there is little nail to adhere to. There are obvious signs of fungal nail infection.

    I wonder if anyone has had experience of a similar problem. Will the superficial nail plate eventually grow to rejoin the nail bed? Is it necessary to remove the nail completely for this to happen?
