An Algonquin podiatrist has been arrested after a report by a female employee led police to the discovery of a hideen video camera and a cache of videotapes and DVDs depicting images of sexual conduct between the doctor and adult females in an examination room of his East Dundee office, police said.
Dr. Steven P. Loheide, 63, of 1002 Twisted Oak, Algonquin, is charged with two counts of eavesdropping, a Class 4 felony, and misdemeanor charges of unauthorized video recording, unlawful solicitation of a sex act, and battery. Authorities said Loheide was arrested at his office Wednesday, Oct. 17. Bail was set Friday at $100,000, and Loheide later was released from the Kane County Jail after posting bond of 10 percent.
The Kane County State's Attorney's Office, in a release issued Monday, said East Dundee police were dispatched on the afternoon of Oct. 16 to Loheide's office, Fox Valley Podiatry, 210 Penny Ave., Unit I, on a report of possible unlawful videotaping in one of the rooms of the office. There, an adult female employee told officers that she had discovered a videotape of her in the act of dressing and undressing in an examination room in the office used for that purpose. She reported to the officers that she had been unaware of the videotaping, when it occurred, and had after finding and viewing the tape, found a camera that had been hidden in the room. Loheide was not present at the time of the report.
On Wednesday, authorities executed a search warrant at Loheide's office, where officers found a hidden video camera and numerous video tapes and DVDs depicting images of sexual conduct between Loheide and female adults in the examination room, the state's attorney's office said. Loheide was taken into custody at the East Dundee Police Department, based on the investigation of the allegations and additional allegations by the employee that Loheide previously had touched her unlawfully and solicited her for a sexual act....
