    They are changes in performance and injury related parameters.

    I understand that the average running shoe should be changed at around 400-800km (obviously depending on the shoe, mechanics, surface and bodyweight); the above study measured the effects of shoe wear after only ~300 km (200 miles) ... so who knows what is going on at even greater amount when it is recommended that shoes be changed.
