Airia One Running Shoe Review

Conclusion

This was one of the tougher shoes for me to review. I was afraid this shoe could cause an injury. The fear caused me to limit my runs in the Airia One to shorter distances (nothing over 10 miles, most runs were 7-8 miles.) Perhaps with time the legs and feet would strengthen to prevent any injuries. The firmness of the midsole eliminated any desire to run long in the shoe. The biggest flaw with the shoe is the marketing claims. They are impossible to back up. I did not dislike the shoe. When I do reviews I try to think if the shoe isn’t my ideal shoe, who would the shoe be a good choice for. In this case, if you like a firm shoe that has a natural run feel (after a couple miles) and want to see if a shoe can actually deliver the promise of faster times, well then this might be the shoe for you.

Hoka One One Clifton Review (female)

Overall I am very happy with the Hoka One One Clifton. It is a super cushioned, super light shoe. Not only are they great for lessening the impact of ultra training on the roads but they are light and fast for racing. After trying the Cliftons, my minimalist shoes are a thing of the past.

Nike Zoom Streak LT2

To surmise what we have here is a great looking, multi-functional shoe. Unfortuantely for me the extra £20 Nike could have charged by offering a slightly denser foam and a more structured upper at the cost of a few more grams would have made this ‘racing shoe’ more durable. It just feels a little bit cheap whilst looking great. I can’t see me running anything over 5 miles in them in the future

Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit Review

Sock-like upper

Severely lacking in traction
Sole still picks up tons of rocks/stones
Questionable Durability
VERDICT: The Nike Free Flyknit 4.0 is an incredibly comfortable shoe with a lightweight and flexible construction thanks in a large part to what has to be the greatest upper in any shoe I’ve had the privilage of wearing. The Flyknit upper felt like a second skins and didn’t cause the slightest discomfort on even long, rainy runs. For the price, however, the out-sole just left too much to be desired, with incredibly poor traction and perhaps questionable durability.

Newton Fate Review

PROS
Upper fits well, esp toe-box
Upper has great materials
Seems extremely durable
CONS
Required“break in” for lugs
Small traction lugs sheared off quickly
VERDICT: While at first they felt stiff and awkward to run in they improved with every run, and have grown into my favorite shoes for logging easy road miles in. And they seem to possess more than enough durability to be up to the task for the foreseeable future. Its hard to imagine how long it will take to wear out the massive sole pods, and the upper also seems to be well put-together out of robust materials. It is obvious, however, these shouldn’t be used much beyond the bounds of road or path runs. While the big lugs could lead one to believe otherwise, they slip allover the place on trails, especially on hills. And they further lack capacity as a racing/speed shoe, the soft P.O.P. 2 lugs which contribute to the excellent comfort level on easier runs just absorb far too much energy in faster efforts.

VERDICT: The Mizuno Wave Sayonara 2 is a solid lightweight option for neutral runners seeking a responsive ride and adequate cushioning to go the distance. Mizuno fans will love the stream-lined design paired with the brand’s typical Wave technology. However, newcomers to the company’s line may have trouble adjusting their gait to the feel of Mizuno’s underfoot. This shoe works best as a long-distance racer or up-tempo trainer, but would accommodate many runners as a daily choice for road running.

Newton Running Kismet Review

It seems like I get shoes in waves, a few great followed by a few mediocre, and then some lemons. The Kismet fall into the the shoes I love to run in category. I look at the rack in the morning and I reach for them first. I have other shoes lined up for review but I will go with the Kismet for my long run today. As of now, the Kismet are my favorite new addition to the Newton line up. They feel lighter and less stiff than the Motion III, and have just the right amount of more shoe than the Distance III. This may be harrassey to some die hard Newton lovers out there, but I like the P.O.P. 2 ride as well. I am very curious to see if I would like the Fate over the Kismet.

New Balance Fresh Foam 980 Review: Firm, Responsive, and A Bit Pointy

Conclusion
The New Balance Fresh Foam is not a maximal shoe. It’s not a particularly soft shoe. Rather, it’s a 4mm drop lightweight trainer that offers a responsive ride and a smooth transition. If it fit my foot better I’d definitely consider it as an option for marathons, but the pointy toebox creates a bit too much of a toe blistering risk for me over long distance (not too mention I don’t like my toes being scrunched together). Swapping out the insole for a thinner one has helped significantly, and I think New Balance has a winner here if they make a few small tweaks in v2.

If you have a narrowish foot and like a firm and responsive shoe, the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 is definitely worth a try.

Hoka One One Clifton review

Well, overall I like the shoe with the inserts. They’re nice to run in, and I’ll put them second in my current arsenal for shoes behind my Adidas, but that’s with the adaptations (inserts) I’ve made to them. Unfortunately, I was left underwhelmed by the hype and expectations, and still feel that the sizing issue and quality are areas that should be addressed by the company.
