I'm going to the Liverpool conference, but a colleague of mine isn't.
She feels that the conference is not aimed at the generalist, but really at the NHS, and it is poor value for money, and there are better ways to get CPD!

There is a private practise thread to the conference!

    Hi Simon,

The society each year put on a ripper of a conference. Get 50% of your CPD in one go.

Last year, 2012 in Glasgow, day one, Professor Brian Cox OBE Professor of Particle Physics, University of Manchester ...

and Dr Armstrong Professor of Surgery and Director, Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA), University of Arizona College of Medicine, USA on the same day. That's just scratching the surface of a very full program.

Your colleague must be having a laugh. If you didn't get anything from Prof Armstrong presentations then time to retire. His presentations made the conference fee paid for in one go. Its already cheap as chips. Claim it back in her tax return.

Exactly where else would she get this in one go under one roof a bus journey from where she lives?

I am sure this years conference in Liverpool will be no different. Mention to her that the profession gained independent prescribing rights this year and she may like to attend that session and find out how she can enhance her practice as a generalist.

The conference in Liverpool really does have something for everyone and I hope I see you both.

    Kind regards,

    Kevin.

I agree with you. Prof. Armstrong and Neil Baker (debridement and PP) were both excellent.

I think that Neil Baker is an excellent lecturer.

Harrogate 2 years ago, Martin Fox gave an excellent talk on PAD.

Baker, Bristow have both been highly influential in my day to day practise, in terms of the advice that I give patients, wrt diabetes and VPs.
