I was always led to believe that the os peroneum (do we call it the os fibulare now?) occurrs in perhaps 10% of the population - but I do not have a reference for this. It amuses me - that assuming that I am correct - the modern student will get a distorted view of this. All plastic skeleton feet have an articulation for this bone, presumably because it was present in the specimen used to obtain the mold. When will the teachers recognise that biological variation is the key to the whole issue - and where all therapists make their living?
