    Hi all,

Hope you are all doing OK under your respective quarantine circumstances.

Also wondering if Podiatry Arena will break some records with total number of members online at the same time!

I have a question about the use of custom foot orthoses in patients with moderate to severe midfoot arthritis.

In the past I have used, with limited success, CFO's and off the shelf devices for patient pain relief however, I have recently come across a study published in JOSPT in 2009 about the use of full length carbon graphite inserts:

    https://www.jospt.org/doi/pdfplus/10.2519/jospt.2009.2900

I am wondering if anyone has used these with success?

    Have a great day,

    Hi Rach,

Temporarily causing a 'structural Hallux Rigidus' will modify DMICS (Dorsal Midfoot Interosseous Compression Syndrome) loads, but changing gait propulsion in this format has what side-effects?
Yes of course it will help reduce pain, however addressing the causation will help preserve structure and function longer term.

Therefore consider the appropriate design to address the patients prescription variables ... 'walk more and walk better' = issue solved
