    Hello,

Being a new podiatrist to WA from the UK. I am looking at the possibility of offering a domicillary podiatry service to the area I reside in. I live 25 KM south of Perth, can anybody indicate what would be a resonable consultation charge with or without EPC or DVA? Thanks!

Look at the rates that EPC apply and DVA and charge higher. Doms incur travelling time and costs so fees should reflect this.

If you do not bulk bill, give the EPC claimant a receipt for the fee charged and they can get a refund 80% of a fee of $55.00 and no extra for a fee above $55.00.

    If i remember right.

Also look at what your colleagues charge.

Also look at what fee you need to earn to generate a good revenue into the practice.

NEVER UNDERCHARGE, so do not buy work.:butcher:

$100 an hour, at least. try and get a plumber, electrician, IT technician to your house. they'll charge you at least this, probably more like $150/hr. do you think you are worth this?

    8 visits a day, 8 hour day, = $100 per visit

    4 visits per day, 8 hours = $200 a visit

    16 visits a day, 8 hours? = $50 a visit

and please look after your back!

    Hey Sonya
Im from the UK too, I'm over in NSW now. I would highly recommend working for someone. Have you joined the association in WA?? The NSW assosication classifieds are full of people needing help in their practices.

The system is so different over here...EPC/DVA/Health Insurance etc etc. I worked in public health for 6 years and then went out on my own and I have to say the first year was a steep learning curve.

Feel free to PM me for anymore info.

    Cheers
    Esher

    Hi and welcome to AUS.
$50 a visit? Medicare Rate is $61 for Tx in clinic. EPCP 80% rebate is $51.95.
Not sure how you can travel and consider charging even less than Medicare rebate?
As Phil said look after your back.
Good advice too Esher and welcome to you too.
    Good Luck

Considering the cost of sterilizing instruments a few years ago was worked out I believe to be around the $21 mark, add that to disposables (gloves, wipes etc...) and then to costs (clinic/rent, staff etc...) I would be surprised if you made any money back on Medicare rebate only!

about 8 years ago I know the going rate was btw $50-70 per visit, depending on where you are. I would expect a lot more now. Dont undersell yourself, its backbreaking and dull
