Hi seeking assistance with a diagnosis. 4 year old presented with both forefeet MPJ's plantarly and both hallux plantarly and 2-5 toes.....with minor thickening of skin. Skin peeling fissure open at times. Anhydrotic, lessor toes extremely dry and flaky.
Mum suggests time line is 12 months but not specific.
Tried antifungal cream no change.
Tried sorbolene recently might be helping?
GP no thoughts or treatment see Pod.
History of eczema both posterior knees, mild, Tx cortisone
MPJ'sdistally skin healthy normal.
Hands, fingers normal.
Paternal Uncle may have psoriasis.
3 year old sister no evidence.
18 month old normal.
4th child under 4 not sighted but apparently normal.
Otherwise child healthy "normal".
Footwear leather, good condition.
Flexible, chews off the skin that is peeling.

Treatment I have suggested is try the same cream that is used on eczema.
Reduce chewing of feet.
Wear socks to protect feet in sandals due to the very hot weather we are currently experiencing.
I expect the cortisone cream will help but still have no Name? for condition?
Asked mum to check family historys for skin conditions or any thing else outside square?
We will review child in 2 weeks to assess treatment plan.
Appreciate any assistance.

Hi Craig that was quick, my thoughts if atopic would it be same for 12 months??

 

Sorry should have added ,
no rash appearance,
no spots, no redness
and No ITCH
definitely only forefoot

only sore when fissures open and layers peeled deeply?

 

You could try Googling
Juvenile plantar dermatosis.
