Weakness of muscles can contribute to stress fractures via eccentric loading.
In my years of practice (no formal study done on this), weakness of the peroneus brevis contributes to fibular stress fractures.

Stress fractures of the base of the fifth seem to be related to weakness of the peroneus tertius or abductor digiti minimi (Jones' fracture).

It appears that a specific muscle weakness will cause a specific stress fracture.
