    A warm hello to everybody,

It would be very kind of you if you could suggest whether I am on the right path

I am an HPC registered physiotherapist with 16 months exp, from non EU country trying to find a job for 8 months, but as you all know the current scenario of NHS (over 93 percent of local grads don't have a job!! ) I find my future bleek however I liked this course of Foot health proffesional diploma.I am thinking of doing the course and then maybe start my own clinic later combining foot health with physiotherapy.

I would be grateful for all the experienced proffesionals to kindly advice me on this regard.Am I taking a wise descion?Because though I can change to any proffesional line but I derive most contentment from providing health care services? What is the scope of foot health practioner and our future? If I suppose I attain diploma which mode is best to start practise and gain experience(home visit, domicil',clinical attachment?).

thanking you all for your interest and support :)

It all depends whether you want to be a podiatrist or not! An FHP is not the same as a podiatrist, just as a podiatrist is not the same as a physiotherapist!

The scope of practice of a FHP is not clearly defined, but they are not registered with HPC, and cannot work in the public sector. FHPs are not legally entitled to administer local anaesthetics, and I would imagine mostly deal with toenail cutting and reduction of lesions.

Personally, I don't see how FHP would combine effectively with physio. I work with physios in treating MSK disorders, but then I do have a podiatry degree and post-grad experience. I wouldn't dream of trying to combine the two professions, because I know that I'd need to retain an awful lot of information! I find it hard to believe that an FHP 'diploma' provides adequate training in order for it to be of any practical use in combination with physio in the way I think you're suggesting. Unless I'm 'barking up the wrong tree', and you actually want to combine foot care with physio (but why would you want to do that?!)

I do hope I'm not going to cause offence to anyone reading this (none intended) - we all have our place in this world, after all..

    hi

i'm a HPC registered podiatrist but this physiotherapy game looks like a bit of a giggle and i've got a spare weekend to pick it all up so what the hey i'm going to give it a go.

only thing i'm having trouble with is dreaming myself up a title to get round all of that terribly tiresome new legislation :D

Aww, why didn't I think of that! Then I wouldn't need to get the physio to come over and actually see the patients with me!

Sadly I have neither the wit nor the brainpower to coin a catchy title...
