Has anyone heard of the Wu's syndesmosis bunion procedure? I think he is an orthopod in Hong Kong that perform this type of surgery with much success. The surgery I think involve in suturing the capsules of the 1st and 2nd MTPJ.

ie pull the 1st MT over to the 2nd.

It certainly sounds in concept like the mini tight rope procedure. I wonder what he is using to affect the syndesmosis? In the long postoperative x-rays you can see osseous proliferation in between the first and second metatarsal necks.

Years ago there was a residency director at a Hospital in Newark New Jersey that would use 2x0 tevdek and tie the 1st and 2nd met capsules together. He swore by it. I always assumed that the sutures pulled out as soon as the patient was weight bearing.
