i would like to say hello to everyone on this site!! I have been qualified now for 7 months and am finding it increasingly difficult to find work in the derbyshire/manchester area. When i qualified i was full of enthusiasm about my new career. It appears that a lot of jobs currently advertised are seeking experienced pods- all i want is a chance to start my career!! is it just me or does anyone else share the same opinion?

intro - looking for first post
It can be very frustrating finding your first post, unfortunately you may need to travel further a field to gain appropriate experience. Have you contacted private practitioners in your area? It might be possible to work a few sessions for a couple or more practices. You may also find it possible to get some experience working for a locum agency. Also it is well worth doing some leg work and arranging to meet and introduce yourself to the Heads of Podiatry in this area, depending on where you actually live Derbyshire/Manchester gives you access to West & South Yorkshire, Staffordshire etc. This might give you the opportunity to apply for some short-term work. I would also suggest you make yourself known at the Branch meetings in your area, its suprising what you can discover over a chat or even a pint after the meeting!. If you are a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists they can give you details of all of the branches in this area (not all advertise their meetings in the journal).
Hope this help you
