I get that the entire Medicare/Medicaid system is currently being manipulated by politicians, and that there is no telling what any outcomes will mean for podiatrists or other docs. However, the podiatrist salary averages listed on the various websites that claim to know, are meaningless, because each source has their own, sometimes very different "averages". What is the recommendation, if any, about which state to designate for a license, which I have to designate before taking round 3 of boards? Thanks!

The top paying states to earn a dentist salary are Oregon ($80.00), New Hampshire ($117.79), Hawaii ($100.38), Georgia ($98.51), and California ($89.32). These salaries are calculated as an annual mean or average. This are the best place for earning the money.

 

What dentists get paid have no bearing on what Podiatrists make. Dentists for the most part to not accept low paying HMOs and Podiatrists do. Texas is one of the best states to practice Podiatry as there is less managed care and reimbursement is still fairly good compared to other states. Florida is one of worse states as managed care pays 30-40% of medicare allowable. Most dentists participate minimally in managed care, they are smarter than us.

Michigan was the highest-paying state for podiatrists, with an average annual salary of $173,730 in May 2009, the BLS reports. Second place went to Texas, with an average annual salary of $166,220. The third highest-paying state was Wisconsin, where podiatrists earned an average of $165,990. The Dallas-Plano-Irving metropolitan division was the best-paying metropolitan area for podiatrists, though exact wages were not published by the BLS. Second place went to the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade, California region, with an average salary of $202,000 per year. Also topping $200,000 was Warren-Troy-Farmington Hills, Michigan, where foot doctors earned $201,070.
