    Hi All

I have been asked to investigate the possibility of doing adult biomechanics reviews via the telephone.
Has anyone tried this? Did it work?

Any information available would be greatfully received.

    Thanks

What is the reason for the telephone reviews?

Is it to reduce a waiting list, increase the number of 'contacts' or a courtesy call?

It can reduce your waiting times and ensure those who have return appts are the ones who need them, rather than the ones who come back to chat.

The purpose of your review should be to evaluate the wearing of the device, and effectiveness of your treatment, and whether the symptoms have improved.

Can you be sure of the accuracy of doing this over the phone?

    Hi

The idea is to reduce waiting times for thoses who really do need a review.

Do you have any experience of telephone reviews? I have heard that a few trusts in UK are using this but have n't exactly how or the results they have had from this.

We routinely leave patients as open reviews. Often with a recommended call back time. Most people do not contact again (assuming things have improved???). The reviews are generally those experiencing problems or continued symptoms.
The above is used to reduce waiting times.
Patient feedback would prefer a follow up review slot booked from their initial contact. However; with clinical commitments and waiting lists it doesn't always allow us to fulfil this preference.
I have not come across any one doing telephone reviews for biomechanical assessment follow ups.
