    G'Day All,

68 year old lady in today.
Irregular burning feet - MPJ's distally to digits. Normal skin appearance/temp. Nil lower limb oedema. Nil diabetes. Nil previous surgery/injuries. Good diet. Normal weight/height. Keeps fit - walks. Relieved gradually by ice/standing in ocean.
Noteably: prominent posterior leg varicosoties. Condition worse in summer. Foot/lower leg mechanics seem ok (no time today for full biomech work-up).
Relationship between varicose veins and subjective symptoms?
Another thought - I've been looking into vasospastic conditions associated with the pre-capillary spincter at the arteriole-capillary junction. Kind of a reverse type of Reynards. Any thoughts.

Could it simply be associated with the friction of wearing summer unsupportive footwear? Slippage in ladies sling backs, scuffs etc a great cause of this?? Reminded of just how bad this can be and how long it takes to recover having worn such shoes to a wedding on Sunday!
    kind regards
    Hj

I have found quite a correlation with these symptoms (esp 2-5 met head areas) and active trigger points in the Long Flexor Digitorum muscle. When I dry needle this area the pt usually says something like 'Yep, that's tingling right in the spot' or similar....Just look for extreme tenderness by palpating the mid medial tibia region and peel them back off the ceiling and go from there.
