Root et al in Vol2 took some of Basmajian's earlier work and put together a very good hyppthetical model of how the muscles affected lower limb function: Normal and Abnormal Function of the Foot. Los Angeles ML Root, WP Orien, JH Weed - Clinical Biomechanics Corp, 1977
