I may soon be relocating to Dubai with my husbands work We need to know a rough idea of expectant salaries for Podiatrist in Dubai... ideally i would prefer to work part time but a ball park figure would atleast help us to sort out if this move would be appropriate.. cheers.:santa:

Hi Guys

Iam a UK podiatrist working in Saudi Arabia (one of only 4 in the whole country) and so i know the middle east podiatry scene..which is basically no existent!! In turns of salary for podiatrists im not sure what private practice get and the only private practice i know of is dubai podiatry, however there are a few hospitals run by the government who occasionally post jobs. The way they calculate a podiatry salary is somewhat weird. They go off how many years post qualification you have and not necessarily any post grad training. An expected salary is around £28,000-£30,000 for someone with 5-8 years experience. YOU dont get paid footballers salary even though people have this idea because its the middle east, HOWEVER if you have 10-20 years experience then your expected salary could be £30 000-£40 000 + tax free.

You will also get a good benefits package for the institution to tempt you, for example i get a free brand new 2 bedroom villa on a compound with amazing facilties like 3 olympic pools!! i also get 52 days holiday per year, free tickets twice a year home, end of year bonus and re-sign on fee, free private health insurance and they pay 75% of private schooling fees etc..

One important factor to note that when they offer you a job in the middle east you need to check the type of contract. For most allied health professionals the company will only offer a single contract which will mean they will not cover your family coming or provide family accommodation, I luckily have a family contract so they cover my family and all their costs, This will depend though on country and hospital.

The hospitals i now of in dubai / abu dhabi are:

Sheikh Khalifia Hospital
Mafraq - new hospital
Tawam Hospital

Finally be aware that podiatry in the middle east is not very well understood by most hospital directors and the majority of jobs created are the result of western influence. Working in this field in these countries can be very fustrating but at the same time very rewarding - i have seen things in saudi that i would never have seen anywhere else.
