    Hi

I am looking for recommendations for football boots - (AFL,soccer) to accomodate custom made orthotics.

Could someone please suggest a type/brand that has worked well for previously for clients that can accomodate such devices..?

    Cheers

  2. This is one of those questions that the answer is depends.

    Depends on width of foot
depends on type of device used and what your trying to achieve
    depends on ....... etc etc

But I've found some puma, some asics and some blades to be better than some adidas and some nike, but it depends maybe head down to the local shoe shop and discuss football boots with person in charge as to what works best and whats new on the market.

As you mention AFL new session boots will not be far away from hitting the shops.

l have found that the Adidas Predito(?name as printed on the box) is good for depth but we also have found that some mods improve that ability, look at the bottom of this link where we have increased the internal depth by 20mm.

Sadly this doesnt help with the fact that they are standing on a very narrow sole, that will have to be the next project:wacko:

I'm a shoe retailer and often need to fit customers wearing orthotics.

The "performace" shoes have no midsole and are quite narrow in the midfoot area.
I suggest models such as the Asics Gel Lethal range or the Adidas 118 Pro.

Both have a good midsole for cushioning, are a little wider in the midfoot as their last shape is similar to a running shoe and they fit orthotics in, although 3/4 length orthotics work the best.
The Asics is also available in a 2E (wide).

    Cheers.

Asics gel lethals FTW - worn them last 3 footy seasons - with orthoses

Not the flashiest shoe, but very comfortable

Also notice puma has a simillar looking shoe - looks more like a runner

I know it is heresy, but wondered if anyone has ever used the old rubber butter mix to essentially custom mold a boot/cleat to the athlete's foot? I know old pods used to use it modify high heels when orthotics were not an option.
