    Hi,
I have worked for a clinic that thinks orthotics have G.S.T. on them.
So I sent them a link to the A.T.O. website www.ato.gov.au

    Which states:

"Conditions to sell medical aids and appliances GST-free
Medical aids and appliances you sell are GST-free if they meet all of the following three conditions:
-listed in schedule 3 to the GST Act or in schedule 3 to the GST regulations
-specifically designed for people with an illness or disability
-not widely used by people without an illness or a disability.

Medical aids and appliances that satisfy all these conditions are GST-free at every point in the supply chain - from manufacture to consumer."

So the clinic management was fine about custom-made orthotics but still think there should be G.S.T. on pre-fabricated orthotics???

I have tried to contact both the state and national podiatry association and they don't know the answer. Does anyone know?

Hi RKnight, Do you know who you spoke to in the APodC Office. I'm surprised to hear we didn't give you an answer. Feel free to message me.

An orthotic "which is applied to the body to change or alter position or motion, or prevent movement" is GST free throughout the supply chain.
