Accuracy of Citation and Quotation in Foot and Ankle Surgery Journals

We have had upteen posts here is which we criticized various bloggers and book authors and the way they use or more appropriately misuse references. Chris McDougal's Born to Run was a classic and Dreyer's Chi Marathon is another. Those who are unfamiliar with the research are usually impressed with all the science and references used. Those who are familiar with the research being quoted roll their eyes at how gullible people are to fall for the manipulation, misquoting and misunderstanding of the pseudoscience that they are being spun.

The above study found:

That is an amazing error rate and misquoting of research and that was in scientific journals that are peer reviewed prior to publication. Obviously the rate will be so much higher from online blogs and the type of books I just mentioned as the alleged science, or more appropriately, the pseudoscience is NOT subjected to peer review!

 

To be accurate, the study quoted (and I haven't read it) needs to state the titles of the journals reviewed. There may be other journals on the same subject which do not have such a high percentage of reference (citation) errors.
