the wisdom is that fungal nail dust is hazardous and i have not looked at the literature for some time. what i can say is that i have done more than 40 years in a former mining area where fungal nails are very common being one of a number of pithead baths conditions. I did a lot of my dustiest work before drills had dust extractors . I am a podiatrist who resorts to the drill very quickly in preference to a hand file. After all this i can still leave behind many members of the family on an uphill forestry walk. no eyesight problems either

 

Similarly, I'm a great nail driller, and have been for 35 years, mostly with vacuum extractor though, and along with about 20 Silk Cut purple a day I seem to be holding out quite well!!
