    Hi all,

I need some advice about indemnity insurance.
Which ones are most commonly used?
And when should I purchase it? (start work in January)

The only two I know are Guild and AON.
Guild: $1147.48 for non members, $573.75 for members
    AON: $442.69

    Thank you in advance.

See if you can link it to the practice you are working at's policy.
Also if publicly employed you will be covered by the health service/hospital's insurance ( at least for AHPRA requirements), and the AHPA (Union covering Podiatrists in Victoria) also provides included insurance, with an optional add in if generating more than $20,000 privately.
By my interpretation of the registration standard, you need to have insurance at the time you treat your 1st patient.

Are you in the UK as I see you quote dollars?

Sounds expensive and is the cover on a claims made or claims occurrence basis? A big difference.

  5. I'm from Australia. I have no idea what "claims made" or "claims occurrence" is, sorry.

From word-of-mouth I believe Guild are the most commonly used in Australia...happy to be corrected on this! I also believe if you will be a DVA provider you will need a minimum of $10 million indemnity on your policy?

Claims made means that you are covered whilst you pay your premiums. Not much help when retired as you are at risk. Claims occurrence means you are covered at all times until you die and your estate is covered. Most important. Hope it has helped you.

  9. Thank you everyone, that helped a lot!

    Can someone confirm this?

I'm not sure whether I should get 5 million or 10 million? or is it up to my work place? Thanks
