    Hi All

Does anybody know of or use another private practice insurance provider other than the society. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Hi Trev,

The Alliance of Private Sector Practitioners can offer £6m cover along with all other needs, cpd, etc. Strong policies. Membership is comprised of Pods and FHPs.

Both the Institute and the BCPA provide good cover.

Alternatively you can go it alone via an insurance broker. This is cheaper but largely untested. It I were being sued for malpractice or clinical negligence I would want someone who knew what they were doing and had experience in defending Pods with me.

There's also All Med Pro, allmedpro.co.uk
Tom Chaston is the guy to speak to.

Any clues as to their annual fees?

I think there were two bands of cover and the premiums were £250-£300 ish underwritten by Zurich/Balens. I didn't follow up at the start of the year but am still pondering.

Both the Inst and the BCPA are around £300 a year. The cover is a little more comprehensive than the SCP.
