I just finish the first year podiatry in SA. Saw this poster on online saying acupuncture is usefull in podiatry. I am thinking to take a acupuncture course, but the only course we have in adelaide is a 4 years degree full time. do you guy think i shoud do this course while finishing podiatry degree.

PS. I am chinese (acupuncture should be easy to learn for me).

 

I have used Acupuncture for 8 years for OA of the knee/ankle/MCJ's/MTPjs and find it useful for pain relief

 

Hi, I have just finished a short course on Accupunture specifically for Podiatrists taught by Shane Toohey in Perth. He travels to other states to conduct Level 1 & 2. I started treating those patients that were unresponsive to all other modalities I or they have tried & was very surprized at the results I got. Chronic persisitant Achillis tendonitis pain reduced by 50% in the first 2 treatments, also treated a vague pain anterior prox tib fib area when going up or down stairs which went in first treatment .... so yes it is a good adjunct therapy to assist people. Unless you want to treat the whole body, Podiatric Accupunture would be sufficient.

I have been using acupuncture for several years and I too have found it a good for pain relief in MSK. If you are thinking about private practice it may be a useful extra to have. good luck.
