    Hi all, please help ...

36 year old healthy female, no medical history, no medications:

Complains of intensely itchy 3rd toe plantar surface only (not apex) and a bit itchy on the dorsum around the 3/4th MPJ area. This started 10 days ago. Were no visible changes in the skin, skin is in good condition. Has had tinea many years ago, not tinea this time. More like the itchiness you get after an insect sting but without the red/white lump. Occurs mainly in the evenings and when in bed.

Itching mostly subsided after 7 days (3 days ago). Now also a bit achy under the ball of the foot MPJs 3-5 plantar surface.

Any insight into what is going on would be appreciated.

Ask her if she has gone overseas or in the country-this can be a bite.

Hi John, thanks for your interest. She has not been overseas. Is there an insect in particular that you are thinking of? There was no welt or skin change at all which makes me think its not a bite. Also doesn't sound like erythromelalgia, at least not a full blown case. It will be interesting to see if this was just a one off event or whether it gets progressively worse over time.

It can be a deer tic, check for lyme disease. If you see no bite, ask her if she has changed soaps or fabric softeners/detergents recently.
