i understand footwear is a recurring theme in all of the sub forums....but maybe a specific footwear section would clarify things a little....i dont know, just a suggestion.

 

I believe that's an excellent idea.

There are a number of credible professionals who refer their patients out to "go buy a pair of New Balance" shoes. The problem is that this brand has a host of different last shapes, as well as myriad interior and midsole constructions. All of which can have either dramatically sound or poor biomechanical effects to the wearer. Unfortunately, I have found that many of the retailers presently selling this brand have just as little knowledge regarding specific models as the referring professional.

How many here have recognized the partnership of the New Balance 608 with forefoot supinatus deformity and resultant plantar heel pain? Too bad that's one of the brand's top selling styles.

I think a forum specifically for foot wear is a really good idea. Having Jeremy (and David Sutton) here to bounce ideas off and keep us abreast of changes in the market is a resource we shouldn't overlook.

I can vouch for Jeremy's uncanny knowledge and experience as a pedorthist and find many professionals ask him for his advice based on this.

 

I also agree that this would ge a great idea.
Sorry about the extra work for the admin...may mean an extra beer.
Perhaps Simon Bartold could also lend us his expertise once up and running.

Would also be useful to have details of worldwide footwear specialist providers to recommend to patients.

A very informative presentation was given during David Holland, Martin Harvey & Robert Isaacs Tamworth UK CPD event in January but the gentlemans name escapes me?
