I notice in the Vital Medical catalogue under Smartdop 45 they reference the Medical Benefits Schedule Book.
Item code 11610 with a rebate of $54 for a doppler assessment with hard copy.
The podiatrist 10962 rebate is $50.95 which often includes a doppler assessment

Does anyone know if the Podiatry association is looking into this, with a view to podiatrists being elegible for the 11610 rebate payment as well as the 10962 payment. Or a higher fee if a doppler is carried out as part of a 10962?

    Trevor,
In my area I have had a lot of patients advising me that the practice nurse is doing Dopplers. Certainly another earner for the GP clinics.

Hi we have codes for such BUT Medicare does not recognise these. DVA does??

Look forward to the day we we can bill according to our expertise.

    Cheers

Hi trevor it's my understanding that getting medicare rebates for doppler, nail surgery and a few other applicable MBS items is one of the Associations priorities for their government lobbying over the next 12 months. I would anticipate that you will see lobbying for these things from the APodC over the next 12 months.

    Thanks Heather,
We have a very large number of DVA PX, People whose average age is around 90 years. So changes to Medicare will be very important to a lot of podiatrists.
