Has anyone been able to negotiate a reduction in the 1.6% merchant fee that NAB (tied to a Hicaps terminal) charges on Master and Visa cards? This fee seems quite steep compared to other offerings - Suncorp with iSoft are offering 0.68%.

Just looking to find out what other people have been able to achieve before I call them.

    Thanks
    Mark

Wow, that is a very marked difference between the National and Suncorp.
But...The problem is, is it not the case that HICAPS covers a substantially wider range of health funds, in comparison with iSOFT??

Well, after ringing NAB who said to call Hicaps who then put a Rate Review request through to NAB, we have had a rate reduction. Not quite as good as the other bank, but given Hicaps seems to have better Health fund coverage, a good result.

If you are still on the 1.6% rate, it is definitely worth a call to Hicaps to ask for a rate review.:D

    Thanks for the heads up.
I rang HICAPS and we also have had our rate reduced to almost the Suncorp rate.

I spoke to my son who uses HICAPS in his dental practice. He too was paying the higher rate. So he rang HICAPS on a friday afternoon. Nothing happened. He called back a week later and gave them a rev. Got lots of apologies and a lower rate, although it was point one of a percent higher than the rate HICAPS gave us.

    I pass on his thanks.

By the way he was very impressed with the Arena site. The dental profession in OZ are not blessed with anything similar.

Well done to Craig and the team
