    Hi Lin

I'm not sure why you would need legislation i.e statutory law, to clean a nail drill.

I would have thought from a personal/patient health and safety aspect it would be common sense to have regular cleaning regime anyway. It also protects the machine and gets maximum efficiency from it.

Can I ask why you are wanting this information?

Certainly there is no law in the UK governing the cleaning of nail drills.

it's always a good idea of carrying the cleaning regularly as mentioned by our colleague, but always stick to the manufacturers guidelines, this should ensure that you do not have any problems. As regards to regulations, I am not aware of any, but the period of cleaning should have been covered whilst you were training and advised to do it weekly.

in British Columbia we are required to autoclave the bits between uses.

    Hi Podclimber

By bits do you mean burrs?

These are classed as instruments in the UK therefore come under the guidelines for decontamination of reusable instruments.

If bits means handpieces then this must make purchase costs phenomenal.

yes, I mean burrs. I don't know how a Dremmel would hold up in an autoclave. Could be fun to find out.

  7. Check your insurance - try it - let us know - take some photos . I don´t think it would be pretty.
