Prime Minister Julia Gillard has confirmed that podiatry is clearly a priority.
Last night, Prime Minister Gillard suggested on the ABC’s 7.30 Report that the new ‘Medicare Locals’ plan will recognise the contribution of podiatrists to patient care:

In response the ApodC have issues a statement.

This is great to hear the PM acknowledging the role of Podiatrist with care of those with diabetes. Increased visits would be helpful but it would be very helpful if there was some sort of coverage for orthoses/soft insoles. The number of Medicare patients I am seeing that require some sort of insole/orthoses but cannot afford them is very high - you feel still very limited with the care you can provide. How did Dentists get the options/fees they have with Medicare patients (retorical question).
