Most patients I talk to here in Northern California think Donald Trump is a scary man and can't imagine why anyone would want him president. However, about 10-15% of them like him (they have all been male patients so far). Of course, this is a very informal survey and I have yet to talk to any podiatrists about him.
One thing that is clearly evident is that I've never, in my lifetime of nearly six decades, heard a presidential candidate compared to Adolph Hitler so much. Makes for a very interesting presidential campaign here in this great country, that's for sure.

What is scary, is the thought that Hillary is the next POTUS. Trump's endorsements by Sen. Sessions and reknowned pediatric neurosurgeon, Dr. Carson, caught many an eye....which should've included doctors'. Hillary Clinton should be indicted...whether she is, or not, prior to the election remains to be seen, but I'm not holding my breath. While Trump is not my candidate of choice, he would be a LOT better than a socialist or the traitor.
-
Hi Matt
For those of us on this side of the pond, or Pacific or elsewhere who are not aware of the detailed ramifications of the Presidential elections -and from our press, most of us find Donald Trump scary - who is the Socialist and Traitor?
Thanks
Bill -
(I'm just following instructions by Thomas jefferson to "question with boldness"). I came to these conclusions on 9-17-12...5 days after the attack and after Susan Rice peddled her story about a spontaneous uprising due to a Youtube video. I pieced the parts together, because I knew the lie rises to the level of the crime committed...and that explanation was a doozy! I was ahead of everyone else in the media, and have made connections no one else has. Names and dates have been added since my early speculation...
"So here's the REAL story. Amb. Stevens was sent to Benghazi post haste in order to retrieve US made Stinger missiles supplied to Ansar al Sharia without Congressional oversight or permission. Artillery Hillary brokered the deal through Stevens and a private arms dealer named Marc Turi. Then, some of the shoulder fired missiles ended up in Afghanistan used against our own military. It was July 25th, 2012 when a Chinook helicopter was taken down by one of our own Stingers, but the idiot Taliban didn't arm the missile and the Chinook didn't explode, but had to land anyway. An ordnance team recovered the serial number off the missile which led back to a cache of Stingers being kept in Qatar by the CIA. Obama and Hillary were now in full panic mode and Stevens was sent in to retrieve the rest of the Stingers. This was a "do-or-die" mission, which explains the stand down orders given to multiple commando teams. It was the State Dept, not the CIA that supplied them to our sworn enemies, because Petraeus wouldn't supply these deadly weapons to them due to their potential use on commercial aircraft. Then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus after he refused to testify that he OK'd the BS talking points about a spontaneous uprising due to a Youtube video.
Obama and Hillary committed treason...and THIS is what the investigation is all about, why she had a private server, (in order to delete the digital evidence), and why Obama, two weeks after the attack, told the UN that the attack was because of a Youtube video, even though everyone knew it was not. Further...the Taliban knew that this administration aided and abetted the enemy without Congressional approval when Boehner created the Select Cmte, (Boehner was a member of the Gang of Eight which would've had to give authority to Obama and Hillary for a covert operation), and the Taliban began pushing the Obama Administration for the release of 5 Taliban Generals. Bowe Bergdahl was just a pawn...everyone KNEW he was a traitor. So we have a traitor as POTUS that is not only corrupt, but compromised...and a woman that is a serial liar, perjured herself multiple times at the Hearing whom is running for POTUS. Only the Dems, with their hands out, palms up, will support her. Perhaps this is why no military aircraft was called in...because the administration knew our enemies had Stingers." -

The economic problems we face as a nation stem directly from the socialist measures rammed down our throats by Liberal/Progressive Presidents with liberal super-majorities in the Senate and a majority in the House. We now have to pay for this socialism...again, I refer back to the famous quote by Thatcher. I can name these tipping points dating back to the early 1900's, name the Presidents and the Bills they signed into Law. How about you? -
If capitalism is so awesome, how did it manage to create such a desperate global crisis - generated by the rich and now being paid for by the poor? -
Margaret Thatcher's quote about socialism stands on its' own merit. Quit placing personalities before principles...that demeanor does not serve you. Our Founders were very bright people...and they knew about the other forms of government that existed at the time, and, in reality, those that had yet to be developed. The act of tyranny can only expose itself in human history so many ways before redundancy is reached. For instance, fascism and communism are the same side of the coin...it's all tyranny. "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need"-Karl Marx. Is that what you believe in? Then tell me again what significant contributions your citizens have offered humanity in the last 150 years? -

Are you claiming that the USA's international policies have improved the life of ALL people on the planet??

Your journey home is now by bicycle using a dynamo (George Forbes, Edinburgh, Scotland) to power lights, because your Buick has been stolen. Fortunately the police arrested the thief thanks to fingerprinting (Henry Faulds, Beith, Scotland). Then - heaven forfend - you take a turn for the worse, and you find yourself in need of penicillin (Alexander Fleming of Darvel, Scotland), or given a diagnostic ultrasound (Ian Donald, Glasgow, Scotland) and an MRI (John Mallard, Aberdeen, Scotland). Maybe you require an anaesthetic (Sir James Young Simpson of Bathgate, Scotland) using a hypodermic syringe (Alexander Wood, Cupar,Scotland). Perhaps as a diabetic you require some insulin treatment (John James Rickard Macleod, Clunie, Scotland), or maybe it's Beta blockers you need (James Black, Uddingston, Scotland). If it's been a nasty episode, you might be measured on the Glasgow Coma Scale - guess where that's from.
On the way home from hospital you stop at your bank to use the cash machine outside (James Goodfellow, Paisley, Scotland) and need to use PIN number software to keep your money safe (Also Goodfellow). All that bad luck tells you that you are in need of a holiday. Why not pop on an aeroplane flight and give thanks to the Wright brothers for their efforts. Unfortunately, history now shows they were beaten to the first flight by four months by Dundonian Preston Watson (Dundee, Scotland). Both these flights, along with many since, used the screw propeller (Robert Wilson, Dunbar, Scotland). These days, such flights are heavily reliant on the radar system devised by Robert Watson Watt (Brechin, Scotland).
On your plane trip, lie back and relax, thinking of how your forefathers travelled all the way to America. A huge number of them made their way by passenger steam boat (Henry Bell, Torphicen, Scotland). Then, when building your great nation, many an american steel worker sat high on their structures of steel - Andrew Carnegie's steel most probably (born Dunfermline, Scotland) and spent their break drinking from thermos flasks (Dewar, Kincardine-on-Forth, Scotland). Those same steel workers probably helped build the train lines that forged through early america for that great advancement that was the steam engine (James Watt, Greenock, Scotland), those works being guarded by armed men using breech-loading rifles (Captain Patrick of Pitfours, Scotland).
You can afford that holiday thanks largely to your economic system devised by Adam Smith (Kirkaldy, Fife, Scotland) whilst the plane and your Buick were mobile thanks to the world's first oil refinery (James Young, Glasgow, Scotland). But back home now, you can relax safe in the knowledge that your shores are protected by the U.S. Navy (founded by John Paul Jones of Kirkbean, Scotland) and that the special forces can always be relied upon in desperate times. I'm sure you've guessed by now but the first special forces were created by Sir David Stirling, Perth, Scotland. If you are boiling over at the undue Scottish influence on the globe, you can meditate on scripture to regain your composure. As you reach for your Bible you will find that the first man mentioned in the good book is a Scot, King James VI, who authorised its translation. Never mind, just sit down and relax with a good malt whisky and watch the golf. -
That has to be one of the enjoyable posts I've read on Pod Arena for many years - and a perfect antidote to the insipid parochialism espoused by some transatlantic cousins. I suppose we have to bear in mind that Trump's mother hailed from Lewis, but then we can't be perfect all of the time!

Some of you may get the interpretation that I believe Americans are better than everyone else. You would be wrong. We ARE everyone else. The difference being the system of capitalism...free market ingenuity and opportunity. As it did in Scotland and Britain at one time, occured in the US the last several hundred years, (notice I confined my timeframe to 150 years). Socialism is destroying this country's energy, it's verve, it's mojo...just like it did to yours. Wash, rinse, repeat...when will we ever learn? -
Eh??? MRI, US, beta blockers - these aren't from the 18th century. I just gave you a list of things I thought you would be familiar with. If you want up to date then here you go;
2015 - Tracey Ward, based in Whittingehame, East Lothian, she has developed a saddle which has a flexible structure made out of Dyneema, a fibre 15 times stronger than steel.
2013 - Richard Brown, the inventor of Mimelight, a coloured lighting system which can be controlled by gesture
2015 - Neil Tocher,of Otus Technologies, has invented a 360 degree still and video camera – The VRstation which is now being used by the SAS
2014- David Armstrong, Helpar Ltd – safety warning inside motorcycle helmets
2012- Victoria O'Donoghue, Loc8er Ltd – device worn by children provides location and sends alerts if removed.
2016 - David Finlay, AlbaTERN – generate electricity in remote and hostile marine locations.
2014 - Aquamarine Power Ltd – the world's only grid-connected hydro-electric wave energy converter.
You may also remeber Dolly the Sheep became the first woolly animal to become a household name, after becoming the first cloned mammal in human history. The incredible research took place at the Rothlin Institute in Midlothian, Scotland.
Now then, Tractor beams -they only exist in Star Trek, right? Not since 2013 – scientists at the Institute of Scientific Instrument, along with their colleagues at the university of St. Andrews succeeded in constructing a tractor beam device which is capable of pulling objects – albeit at a microscopic level.
Now this is just a quick cut and paste job from the Scotsman newspaper because there is so much out there to choose from. For example here in Dundee our own university has just produced a wholly synthetic beating heart on which to test drugs. The list is truly endless and I'm not making a claim that Scotland is somehow special, we are just a wee diddy country that most people would struggle to identify on a map. My point is, such innovation is going on the world over, and to suggest that the rest of the world owes America a debt of gratitude is is frankly both ignorant and arrogant. America does it's bit, as do many many other nations. America also does its bit at sewing destruction and hardship on other peoples - as do many other nations. -
"My point is, such innovation is going on the world over, and to suggest that the rest of the world owes America a debt of gratitude is is frankly both ignorant and arrogant."
I rest my case. -

Here is a cool new virtual reality painting and sculpture program called Tilt Brush that allows people to create images in three dimensional space. Tilt Brush has been recently used to caricature Donald Trump and Adolph Hitler.

I would argue that the Greeks have probably given more to Global society over a longer period seeing as they invented philosophy from which we get modern science which has given the greatest improvements in global human life. They also invented democracy which unfortunately can be as the speaker that tells the masses what they want to hear is often the one chosen to lead, even though they may not be the best candidate.
A calamity at the very heart of democracy, it would lead only to tyranny and subjugation.
In book VIII of The Republic, Plato begins to describe several stages of government that are intolerable, yet unavoidable. Plato predicts a society with an enormous socioeconomic gap, where the poor remain poor and the rich become richer off the blood and sweat of others. In this instance, the people will long for freedom and liberty. They will use it as a battle cry against their oppressors, sparking a revolution.
From this revolution, blood will be spilled and many will die. During this time of violent transition, the people will rally behind one man, or a few men, whom they believe to be their savior. The people will lift this champion to great heights and anoint him with sacred responsibilities to bring liberty to the land. When the smoke clears the old regime will be gone and a democracy will be supplanted. And while this is reminiscent of several historical revolutions, including the American revolution, Plato warns that the trouble only intensifies from here.
To an outsider although all politician are guilty of this Trump has taken it to a new level.....but thats Democracy. -

Goodaye Bill, just read this .........."New Zealand was the first for both male and female universal suffrage in 1893"

I waited for someone to write a rebuttal to DaiseyBoi's post #26, where he writes that I suggested that the world owes America a debt of gratitude...which I didn't...I was just comparing capitalism to socialism and even gave him a link that discussed the economic problems Scotland now faces due to this very argument, (notice not a word written about that link by DaiseyBoi?). But the truth is, that if it weren't for my fathers' generation, (himself a B-29 pilot), Europe would be goose-stepping and speaking German...and that is a fact. The problem is now...Europe is again spiraling out of control...and Trump's popularity has NOTHING to do with the decisions by European leaders that have placed that entire region in jeopardy. Once again...America will be called upon to send soldiers there to bail them out...wash, rinse, repeat.
Now...back on the topic of capitalism vs. socialism...I rest my case...time to read what other socialists have to add that proves their point. -
So Matthew what do you do with the disabled, the sick, the very young, the very old, the displaced and the victims of extreme violence? What would you do and what would you have Mr Trump do? Give a capitalist / Trump solution.

The real shame is that such a wonderful country with many incredible people has had its reputation indelibly stained by characters just like you who think of no one aside from themselves and their own selfish greed. In that simple perspective, you are the antithesis of socialism.
Who perpetrated 9/11 Matty? -
And good luck with your very liberal view of immigration, but it looks like it will not work out well for you. And if the truth be known, Europe's problems were present long before this last escapade with accepting immigrants...socialism just isn't working out that well for you...is it? If Trump becomes POTUS...expect that your leaders will receive a Bill from us for "services rendered". Go visit Normandy some time, and reflect carefully about what I wrote.
