Alex Stacoff was not a podiatrist, but as a biomechanist he was very familiar with the podiatric literature and what Podiatrists were trying to achieve. He was not a member here, but i do know he stopped by often to read. His contribution to our understanding of the foot and his publication track record is well known (see this search results here at Podiatry Arena for Stacoff).

Sadly, Alex passed away late last week. This will be a great loss to his family, friends and the biomechanics community.

Very sad news. .... a true gentleman....always happy to share and discuss.

The last time I saw Alex was at the Footwear Biomechanics symposium last year. At the start of my presentation I had a picture of the America's Cup regatta as it had just started and it was Switzerland vs New Zealand. I only included the picture to have a digg at Alex! Unfortunatly for me New Zeland went on to loose and I will miss the ongoing banter I had with Alex since then....
