    Hi Guys

So I am wondering what people's thoughts are in regards to running spikes in children. My daughter is 9 and has joined our local athletics club and competed in some minor competitions. She was encouraged to get spikes, but the more I watch her run and other kids at this age of up to 12 the more I'm not so sure there good for this age group. Hers and others running technique seem to change (not for the good). What age do people think kids should wear spikes in regards to the following that creates an improved running style and enhance performance ? :

    75 to 400m
    800m to 1500m
    Jumping events

I've tried to find stuff, but not a great deal and people just seem to keep following a trend.

    Cheers

    Chris

This is what amazes me though that there are no guidelines and very little research in to the use of them apart from they give you more grip.
