    Hi All

I finished uni a few years ago now, but due to my line of work, never really got to learn much about sports shoes either at uni or now that Im finished. Out of my own curiosity and many questions from friends, I want to learn more about the different shoes on the market and what they are best prescribed/recommended for.

Is there anywhere to start looking for this info? All I seem to find is the individual technology of each brand (nike adidas asics etc) and Im looking for more info than that? Im looking for everything from general info to why one shoe is the most popular for running (eg asics)

Im looking for global type info too, for example 'adidas are great for narrower feet' which I tend to hear a bit.

Any other bright ideas of where I should look for this info? I was hoping to use it in research for CPD points.

Do representatives offer shoes for podiatrists to trial? I would love to test run a few of these without the retail price tag?

    Thank you :)

Get in touch with the tech reps of the brands your interested in and they will often come and visit your clinic with a load of samples, knowledge and approachability. There will of course be the sales spin on their product but you can normally see past that. Some but not all will also give you sample stock to have in your clinic to show your clients the properties of the shoes you want for their particular case.

Also try to form a good relationship with your local reputable athletic footwear store. They do have a wealth of knowledge and feedback from their customers. Not the junior sales person but the actual manager/owner/purchaser for the store.

Hope this helps get you started...
