St. Louis podiatrist indicted for Medicare fraud
St. Louis podiatrist was indicted late Thursday on multiple fraud charges in connection with false billing to Medicare and Medicaid, including billing for foot treatments of patients who had their feet amputated, Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Reap said Friday.
Dr. David Quang Pham, 49, a licensed doctor who has an office at 2506 Pocahontas Ave., submitted false claims and medical records to Medicare and Missouri HealthNet (Medicaid) for services that he provided from 2002 through 2008, according to the indictment.
Pham created treatment notes to reflect services that he had not provided and produced these treatment notes to Medicare and to agents of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of the Inspector General during the course of their investigation, the indictment alleges.
In some instances, Pham submitted reimbursement claims for treating the feet of patients whose feet had been amputated prior to the dates of service.....
