I treated a client for routine nails, callus corns and when applying cream at the end of treatment i felt a lump under the arch on each foot. Both lumps are the same size about the size of a maltezer. They are not painful and i couldn't produce pain when palpating. The lumps are not visible you can just feel them. My client said she had had the lumps for a few years and other podiatrists didnt know what they were. She saw her GP and he said it was nothing to worry about as it is the same on both feet. I have never seen this before....does anyone know what this is? My client didnt seem worried about them but was curious as to what they are as she hasnt seen anyone that knows...... Thanks for your help :)

    Probably Ledderhose/plantar fibromatosis.

  3. Like LL said...plantar fibromas most likely.

Check their hands for Dupytren's Contracture, it is reasonably common to get associated plantar fibromae. I have come across the phenomenon on several occassions. It would seem to have some obscure Viking link in the UK. Ask if there is any history in the family too.

Yep, I was just going to suggest that.

    ...what, of like, pillaging? ;)
