Well, I've been away for a week and I don't see any new posts in the Foot Surgery Area.
OK......just thinking of an interesting topic or two that may be helpful as well.

Question: What is your Postop care for Tarsal Tunnel Release?

This is my routine, I'd be interested in how others handle these in the post operative period

When I perform TT releases I also release the Porta Pedis and frequently do a Heel spur/Fasciotomy as well.

I apply a "boot" cast and allow partial wt bearing for two weeks.
After two weeks we dispense and ace and Cam type walker for an additional 3 weeks. I normally have the patient, at the 3-5 week period, apply a folded 4X4 over the TT area under the ace for added compression on the surgical area. Ice BID (once after bathing) /elevation as needed.

Normally after the 5 weeks I allow them to start with an athletic shoe or other well constructed shoe and begin increasing their activity level.

Crutches are usually discontinued at around 3 weeks.

I usually do something similar...except that I go right to the Cam walker vs another type of cast.
I keep them in the Cam walker for 3 weeks then ambulate with normal shoes and some type of compression stocking.
