    Hi Everone,

Just asking if any other Practice Manager received a letter from Medicare (ours was dated 9th Nov 2009) about the Transitional Support Package (TSP).

The letter basically states that practices can apply for financial assistance to assist with administrative and or set up costs for electronic medicare claiming.

Our practic manager just caled Medicare Australia and you receive (if you apply prior to the 18th Dec 2009) a $750 lump sum payment + 18c per transaction.

Now the catch is - you MUST be a GP or Specialist to use this???

Then why did I receive the letter as a Podiatry Practice? Apparently it was because they are trying to find all the GP's/Specialists and thought some might be in Podiatry practices.

Once again Podiatry is left out in the lurch whilst our GP's and other so called "specialists" get handed money hand over fist.

    Equality?

    Thoughts please!

    Yes, we got one to.
Emailed the TSP people and yes allied health does not get any benefits.
Where is the APODC on this ?

Agreed APodC should be all over this like a rash!

agree APODC should be all over these matters. Some months ago I received advice that TSP and lump sums were not available to Podiatrists involved in online billing for Medicare/DVA and have raised this with APODC. Total inequity - this is a fee for an business administrative function as a user in the system and should not matter whether you are a Podiatrist , GP or specialist. Similar to the letter going out - you will get conflicting advice from medicare consultants as well.

Thanks Andrew - glad you raised it. I took offense that we didn't fall under the "Specialist" category.
