At the moment I am looking to purchase a treadmill for my private practice. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for this. What I'm looking for is product names and possible dimensions of functional treadmills for a room which isn't huge. Are full guard rails essential/required? Practice is in the Melbourne area. Thanks!!!

I recently bought a Greenmaster SMT828. Its not to long for restricted space but the belt is wide I considered 400mm was the minimum width neccessary. Most important the drive motor is mounted underneath the walkway and so does not impede video from the front view. It does not have full length rails but they are fitted in such a way that they do not impede video saggital view. The specs support a load of 120kg with a 3.0 hp motor that runs up to 10kph.

Obviously a Sprintex machine with slatted platform is better than a drive belt but at around £10,000 its not cost effective. http://www.mar-systems.co.uk/pdf/Sprintex_Leaflet_V4.pdf

Hey podtiger, I'm in melbourne too, I moved to melbourne years ago. I totally fall in love with this city. I'm living in campbellfield, where there is lifespan fitness showromm. I went to there last week today and saw different sizes of treadmills, I think the smallest one is 150cm x 70cm. And price is shocking $400, I had a try, it's not bad as the sales man introduced 8 suspensions which reduce impact to knee (... or something, I'm not good listener anyway.) They had their own website http://www.lifespanfitness.com.au, which the guy said it's on the top list of google search. Hope it could help you to make decision.

By the way I recalled the rails on treadmill is usually used for user jogging or running according to sales man. Of course, it would be the first thing you want to grab if you lose you steps. So long pal.
