    Hi, I am a UK podiatrist aged 36 with 7 years Experience of working within the health service. I am considering emigrating to Australia. i have only just started researching. I would be doing this in my own with my 12 year old son, could you give me some up to date info regarding job prospects in different places pay and the best way to go about emigrating.

    LBFoot,

    1st you need to find out which Visa type you may be eligible for
    http://www.immi.gov.au/
    then check registration requirements
    http://www.ahpra.gov.au/ and http://www.anzpac.org.au/

    Not all employers will offer sponsorship for Visas, so you need to check this out. Sponsorship is more likely in the more rural/remote areas.

    There is still plenty of work for podiatrists in both the public and private sector (though public a bit tighter of late due to gov spending cuts)

    wages vary considerably, with a new graduate wage of about $60K up to around $100k for an experienced pod in the public sector, and similar offers in private practice, but may be based on fee sharing.
