Do many NHS podiatry depts. offer verruca needling to patients? What percentage offer this service out of interest?

I`m not aware of any no-fee NHS Pod departments that do. If the results of Farina`s RCT are favourable, then maybe some will start to offer it.

Many nhs podiatry contracts have specific service specification . one of these criteria is the excusion of vp treatment . I work in 3 separate pct areas and they all exclude treatment of plantar warts. So no needling no treatment of any kind as most of it is a waste of nhs finances. there are better things to spend taxpayers money on than hundreds of thousands of children with warts. I suppose this will keep some in private practice busy. I dont treat many warts in pp only 2 patients in 7 months i tell most pts with vps to save thier money and await the natural death of their wart.

We do in NHS Highland, only VP treatment we offer and only offer to those that are fairly significant.

Cool. I didn`t know needling was being offered within NHS.

Whilst it is by no means the utopia of VP treatment, it is certainly a very useful adjunct to our tool box.

How do you get referred into that service?

If it is offered in your local NHS Podiatry department, you will need a referral from your GP. However, the majority do not, so you may have to seek out a private practitioner. Either way, you really shouldn`t be posting on this forum as this is for professionals only, not for help in personal foot complaints. Good luck with finding someone who can help.
