Hi everyone,

I am currently a second-year podiatry student at Queensland University of Technology and I would like to volunteer or work on casual basis in a public/private podiatry setting.
I have had previous experience working as a podiatry assistant in one of Singapore's largest hospitals and was exposed to the different fields of podiatry – high-risk foot, ulcer management, sports podiatry and pediatric podiatry.
In particular, I was highly involved in the high-risk foot and ulcer management clinics where I assisted specialist podiatrists in V.A.C. therapy (negative-pressure wound therapy), compression therapy and FLIR thermal imaging to treat chronic and acute wounds. I also assisted in the general podiatry clinics where I had the chance to observe the myriad of podiatric conditions common in the population. In addition, I also provided day-to-day administrative support and inventory management, whilst also working closely with other health professionals like dieticians, prosthetists and nurse practitioners.
I have particular interests in diabetic foot management and geriatrics, and I feel that an attachment will give me an opportunity to gain valuable experience and insights into the podiatry profession in Australia, and help hone my communication and clinical skills.
I was wondering if any podiatrists in the brisbane area would be happy to take in a volunteer or casual for approximately one day each week?
Thank you,
Leopod91
